Fashion Week- First Friday

The official first day of NYC Fashion Week started off with a bang for the guys. John Crocco, the Creative Director for Perry Ellis presented a clean, all American line with slight Euro yachter influence. It’s always great to see a men’s show because the audience and energy is much different from womenswear. At the Perry Ellis show , it was all editors, buyers and executives. The sole celebrity I peeped who also happens to be my ex-husband ANTM judge, Nigel Barker was in the audience. The eye candy was phenomenal- models Noah and Kaleb truly made my heart a flutter.

For the ladies Rubin Singer held a “Voyage” styled and cast by stylist extraordinaire, Kithe Brewster. So many looks stood out including a navy polished cotton vest, a navy silk jersey gown with lizard harness and the top show stopper worn by Shannone, a turquoise fitted eel panel dress.

Being back at the tents was like the first day of school, tons of pent up excitement prior to the day of, energy all around you and then the irritating behaviors start to creep up- crashers, nasty pr chicks etc.

My next show was off site- Edwing D’Angelo at the Westin. The scene was quite chaotic with a hodgepodge of nightlife and music scene staples. Don't forget to throw in the boy band and a few Latina beauty queens. The all white collection mixed with dashes of noir was pleasing for the ladies but the men’s pieces where more costumed. Nevertheless, Edwing was able to bring aboard a couple of ANTM girls along with a pianist who played a dynamic piece by Chopin.

It was at this point I had to put on my flip flops and get something to eat. Debut Fab outfit chick- Claribelle and I stopped over at Ayza a chocolate and wine bar on west 31st that is one hell of a hidden gem. They make a mean sangria- by the way! After refueling, we headed back to Mean Girl High;the tents and on to the last show of the day, Venexiana which displayed gown after gown. The stellar piece that still leaves me dreamy was a long mustard sequin gown cut on the bias. I envisioned Mariah Carey channeling her inner Veronica Lake in that bad boy!

Alright guys, the first day of Fashion week and I am already running home to make a pina colada- I am a lush! Keep posted on all the scoop and reviews as I report from NYC, the fashion capital of the world! Check out the rest of the pics below!
