Tuesday’s Fashion is Full of Grace

Tuesday’s round of Fashion was one of the best so far. In the morning, I watched Farah Angsana present a dazzling array of beaded cocktail dresses and gowns. With ANTM winner, Jaslene, sashaying down the catwalk. Farah’s best looks for me were the back out cocktail dresses. Who doesn't love a dramatic exit!?

I headed to midtown for my next appointment at Christie’s. One half Obama rally the ladies of Doucette Duvall had by far one of the best off site presentations this week. Fifteen looks were presented on models who mingled along with guest. Doucette Duvall is rather new to the fashion frontier with their Eco and social friendly wears but I totally see them gaining a gaggle of sales and press in the near future. Check out their website to view their softly stunning and elegant dresses.

My last call was actually my most star studded so far. Russell Simmons presented his Argyle Collection at the Metropolitan Pavilion. The energy in the room was buzzing with Russell’s return to urban menswear since he sold Phat Farm. I spotted an array of famous faces including Sean Paul, Spice girl Mel B., Bethann Hardison and her son Kadeem a.k.a. Dwayne Wayne! Russell’s nieces Angela and Vanessa where there with Bow Wow. Petra Namcova, La La Vasquez and the cast of The Real Housewives of New York also dotted the front row. Russell hung on to his basic formula from Phat Farm, which is urban prepster. Baggy golf shorts, sweater vest with diamond crosses etc. etc. But the highlight for me was seeing supermodel Will Lemay resurface. Will, where have you been? Where were you, when I needed you? HAHAHAHA.

After the glittery bash, I headed over to Filene’s Basement for some retail therapy and was I in for a shock. Right in the front of the store was a plethora of stunning Missoni gowns for $200 bucks as well as Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti cocktail dresses for $350 and a ton of Denim by Victoria Beckham for $69 bucks. I went crazy and hope you all run down to the Chelsea Filene’s as soon as possible. Look out for coupons that are in the newspaper for time to time as well.

The shows did not disappoint and once I headed home I was in for an even better delight. I was able to capture Fashion Rocks and the Rachel Zoe Project. Rihanna’s performance of Vogue was one of her best and I was head over heels in love with Beyonce’s gold sequin jumper by Gaultier! After hearing that Lil Wayne was supposed to perform I was shocked to see it never went down- supposedly some issues with security- whatev Weezy! The highlight of Tuesday at home had to have been the debut of the Rachel Zoe project. I have been hyping this on the blog like crazy as you all know but I was super excited when it was actually on my screen. Last season at the Fall '08 shows, I saw Rachel running around with a camera crew but I merely thought it was paparazzi. Come to find out it was actually Bravo. What I enjoy about the show is that is shows a woman committed to her passion and yet a vulnerability and softness you hardly ever see in fashion. Snobbery is a prerequisite in fashion and believe me Taylor, her assistant, works hard at that quality – hate you very much. In all, I am super excited the show has finally premiered and cannot wait for the next episode!
I am off to a round of shows, presentations and parties- whoa is me but I will be posting quite a few updates as the day goes by so make sure you hit me up throughout the day. I will see you tomorrow!
