Ya'll going to church? Nah a Fashion show!

I have come to that conclusion that I am the best daughter my mother has. On Sunday we hit up the swag heavy, off site shows by Style 360 at the Metropolitan Pavilion to see designers Walter and Abi Ferrin. The super fem Walter line which is carried in Saks, as well as a number of major retailers, showed a delicate feminine collection that featured quite a few of next Spring's major trend rompers and jumpsuits. With an array of prints and soft flattering hues, the Walter collection will be a major floor thru seller come next Spring.

After a slight detour in Macy’s, Mom Dukes and I headed to Hells Kitchen for drape crazy designer Jose Duran. If I say one thing, Jose’s had an eclectic and creative crowd. In the audience was French Vogue's cover model, Andre J and modeling in the show was ANTM winner Jaslene. Jose showed both men and womenswear in a lounge/ club like space, which so many designers are doing with the fees for showing in the tents skyrocketing. The female models looked like the three muses and the males reminded me of Pan and Narcissus rolled into one. Heavy with shades of cream and highlighted with feather and prosthetic body parts Duran's key is draping. The collection has great conversational pieces for a true individualistic, downtown socialite who hates major labels.

The final show of the day for my mom and the one that made her the happiest because of the swag was Dallas designer Abi Ferrin. Ferrin's collection is a retail goldmine with multi wearable pieces that glide across the body and a plethora of asymmetrical tops and dresses. What truly appealed to me was Abi’s support in the audience. I am use to a laid back amount of applause for even the biggest show but Abi ‘s crowd was straight Source awards with their glee. They brought all their Dallas energy to cheer their girl on.

Abi’s show was a wrap for Leona, she was exhausted by just those three shows and couldn’t understand how I planned to do three more events later that evening. I told her I will go all out for Fashion week! With a quick outfit change I was back on the scene, and stopped by the Selima Optique party at Bond 07 with Aisha. Selima was totally bummed that we were unable to stay for the performance. We had to head back to the tents for the Tibi show which was a mob scene and we didn't even get to see. The tent was mass pandemonium close to the level of Baby Phat back in ’02. I wiped my tears, and headed down to the meatpacking district for the Abi Ferrin after party held at Vitra, the interior design Mecca. All of sudden my Tibi rage was gone when the cute waiter approached with a glass of champagne. Even better I chatted away with my fashion week BFF Karmyn and all my trouble seemed so far away!- LOL!
