In The Trenches

The trench coat which is making a favorable comeback this season puzzling many like myself whom believe it's a classic and therefore a wardrobe staple. None the less, the history of the trench dates further back than  the  Rick Blain character played by Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, or the more mod inspired looks of the sixties.  Like the  navy pea coat, the trench coat was designed for men in military combat in the earlier part of the 20th century.  The trench coat was originated for the British Army  with  Burberry being noted as the original designer of the multipurpose coat for all types of terrain.

The trench coat of the present hasn't truly changed in it's original design over the past one hundred years. With companies such as London Fog and Burberry keeping with the mainstay the deep pockets, belted, rain proof outer garment there are still many variations based on color, fabric and length.  A trench coat is a core item for your fall wardrobe man or woman.  If you don't have one stay tuned, tomorrow's post is all about the best trench for you.
