My Body Is My Temple

I like to think of wellness as the luxury of health and fitness. While you're  getting in your cardio  or cutting back on processed foods for health, wellness is a great yoga class followed by a massage and a delicious fruit salad.  Whole Foods Market has recently launched their Wellness Club,  a program dedicated to offering Whole Foods  Market  members a supportive community environment  making for informed decisions about living a healthier lifestyle.  Developed by a team of doctors, dietitians, Whole Foods enthusiasts and staff members, for a monthly fee of $49, members have access to cooking classes, support groups, shopping discounts and a host of other offerings to promote well being.

"The program offers members a set of tools for sustaining a healthier lifestyle," says founder and co-CEO of Whole Foods Market John Mackey. I attended the bread breaking ceremony at the Tribeca Store and was moved by how passionate Wellness Club Team Leader Giovanna Miller and Club Chef Juan Pablo Chavez were.  The program has also linked with community partners  like Exhale Spa, Equinox and Pure Food and Wine with additional perks and offerings to Wellness Club members. For now, there are only Wellness Club locations in Princeton, Chicago, Oakland and Boston as well as the Tribeca location here in New York City.  A supportive group of like minded individuals and professionals all with the goal of making great lifestyle choices, Whole Foods Market Wellness Club may have snagged a new member.

While still on wellness and a lot of luxury, I recently had one of the best facials ever at the endearing Hibba NYC. Loved by beauty editors and a New York Magazine critic's pick, Hibba, whom I profiled last year on hair removal drew me back in with a wellness facial. As I type I can only tell you how my skin glowed for more than four days post facial. Hibba's five step wellness facial consisted of addressing my skin's issues, exfoliating, cleansing, massaging certain pressure points to stimulate blood flow and two masks one a collagen eye mask and the lasts being a vata mask for my skin type. In addition, Hibba  a master eyebrow threader  reworked my brows to face framing perfection.

An amazing facial will make you give up powder, blush and bronzer for as long as you can. Anyone in the  beauty industry  will tell you that starting off with healthy and amazing skin is the key to looking great. Speaking for myself, going four straight days with just mascara and lipstick wasn't a test, it was me showing off.
