Kat Graham rocks a tangerine lip |
Whether in cosmetics or clothing, tangerine is the official color of Spring/ Summer 2012. The warm based hue works well on olive and dark skin tones and unlike it's seductive sister red, tangerine has a softness and friendliness similar to yellow and green. Tangerine screams I'm happy and healthy and more seen worn by children than adults.
When Beyonce decided to break twitter history and announce her then pregnancy, she wore a Lanvin toga gown in a shade of tangerine. Color authority Pantone, listed Tangerine Tango as one of the colors for Spring 2012. In my younger years, I held back from wearing tangerine, it's one of my mother's favorite colors and although she looked amazing in it, I was taking a rebellious route and shunned anything yellow or orange. Most of my adolescents I mimicked fashion editor black and didn't make a return to color until just a few years ago. Now I proudly wear Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics lipcolor in Tangelo and consider anything close to this shade, the most flattering on me.
Jenny Feldman, Senior Fashion Editor over at member only site MyHabit, notes that tangerine can be a little tricky for some but paired with a white jean can add a fresh look to a summer wardrobe staple. To avoid a clown like disaster and fear of resembling a pumpkin bring tangerine into your accessories like a clutch or sandal. Don't be afraid of this bold shade, instead kick your summer wardrobe up with a tad to citrus and see how it will brighten your day.
