Olivia Pope's White Coat Moment

Last night was the premier of Season 3 of Scandal, the ABC sexy political drama  starring Kerry Washington. While some folks are grossly absorbed in the story line of Fitz and Pope, others -ahem myself follow it purely for the fashion. Washington's  Olivia Pope character is almost always draped in shades of  creams and whites. With such a strong position as having to get her hands dirty in political schemes and melodrama, the theme of this black woman coming to save the day by costuming her in such a powerful color such as white makes for  a very dynamic and strong story line in itself. Last night Pope stepped into the shot wearing a Burberry Prorsum Double Duchess Caped Trench from the Spring 2013 collection seen below.

Wearing white has a lot of meaning. White stands for purity and also it is a sign of decadence as it can easily get dirty. Owning  a white coat means you have an extensive wardrobe, and you can afford to throw this on a few times a year. A white coat isn't an investment piece it's a fantasy wardrobe piece but you don't have to pay the Burberry price tag to channel your own Olivia Pope, here are a few looks that won't break the bank.
